Holiday house in the nature resort Cerro Gordo y Maro - Costa del Sol
El Mirador de Cantarrijan is a very rural holiday home with an intimate, simple décor and stunning panoramic views over the Mediterranean and the Acantilados de Maro y Cerro Gordo nature park.
It is one of the few special houses in this area of the Costa del Sol, situated amidst woodland and in a fairly under-developed area near the towns of Nerja, Almuñecar and La Herradura. The two best beaches of the Costa del Sol (Playa Cantarrijan and Playa Cañuelo) are "on the doorstep".
The house, the covered patio and the beautiful pool are all southeast facing at about 400 meters above sea level. The path that leads down to the beaches is quite steep so would not be suitable for vertigo sufferers.
In July and August there is a shuttle bus from a parking area above Playa Cantarrijan in order to protect the natural park area from too many visitors.
Nerja and Almuñecar are about 15 minutes away and are great places to go strolling, shopping or eating. Almunecar in particular, has an interesting old town and both locations in summer have a lot of nightlife, concerts, festivals and other events.
El Mirador de Cantarrijan, on the other hand, is quiet and peaceful and surrounded by nature!
Most holiday makers spend a large part of the day on the covered terrace by the swimming pool (7 x 4.70 m) which is entered via steps and not a ladder. A nice feature, built with attention to detail, is the water fountain - a stone swan with a water spout from its beak going into the pool. There are also sunbeds and an outdoor shower.
There are two sitting areas outside the house. One is on the covered 30 m² terrace next to the house which has a large brick barbecue and is ideal for dining al fresco and near to the kitchen. The second sitting area is about 10 meters from the house and offers a fantastic panoramic view to the south - the perfect place for a leisurely glass of wine under the stars or to enjoy the sunsets.

Inside, El Mirador de Cantarrijan is a modern house, designed to be practical, compact and homely with a 70 m² living space.
The covered front terrace leads into the central living room with open fireplace, sitting area and dining table. The kitchen is open-plan and next to the front door. There is a new ceramic hob and an electric oven. The living room has a cosy décor and flat-screen TV with international channels and air conditioning.
The living room leads to the back of the house where the two bedrooms and the bathroom are located. Both bedrooms are bright and welcoming. The bathroom has a shower and is expensively tiled with natural stones.
There is a parking area next to the house. Access to the house is a bit steep and there is a tight curve - not easy to drive the first few times, but still passable by any car in any season.
The new motorway between Maro and Nerja is well connected to most places in Andalusia of touristic interest. It is about 75 minutes drive to Granada and the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada and Malaga airport is about 60 minutes drive.
